Taormina - Francavilla di Sicilia - Roccella Valdemone - Randazzo - Montalbano Elicona - Tripi - Tindari

A journey of Archaeoastronomy back in time between earth and sky, from the Ionian Sea to the Tyrrhenian Sea through the Alcantara valley and the lands of Abakainon.

This tour begins in Taormina in a suggestive journey through time from the visit of the famous and ancient Greek theater, which dominates the Ionian coast, to the territory of the ancient city of Abakainon. Traveling along the valley we will discover rock altars and millstones, ancient artifacts dug into the rock, a cave tomb, the "cromlech" of Etna that is a small megalithic building. Going north up the valleys between the Peloritani and Nebrodi mountains we will reach the extraordinary naturalistic site of Argimusco in the oriented pre-reserve of the Malabotta wood from where it is possible to practice astronomy of the horizons. Not far away we will visit the prehistoric shelter of the sperlinga, dating back to the Mesolithic, the Sicilian-Greek necropolis of ancient Abakainon and the archaeological area of Tindari on the Tyrrhenian Sea with breathtaking views of the Aeolian islands.
